Blac Rabbit: The Beatles Story, Liverpool

Blac Rabbit

Blac Rabbit came to their spiritual home in the form of The Beatles Story and Getintothis Dayna Taylor was there for an amazing gig.

Blac Rabbit are based around two brothers from New York who became a viral sensation thanks to a video of them playing The Beatles song “Eight Days A Week” appeared at The Beatles Story in Liverpool, on the last show of their European tour.

The band consists of brothers, Amiri and Rahiem Taylor plus Patrick Jones and Josh Lugo on drums. Being Beatles fans from young ages and going from performing on the New York subway to the (more or less) home of The Beatles is an amazing accomplishment for these musicians.

They, of course, played Beatles classics and incorporated John’s famous lines before some of the songs, including the “Will the people in the cheaper seats clap your hands? And the rest of you, if you’ll just rattle your jewellery”, they knew how to bring the small replica of the Cavern Club to life with their energy as they had people dancing and singing along to them all night!

Throughout the evening, as more and more people started to come in, they played a variety of Beatles songs from their early stuff like Love Me Do, to their later stuff such as Come Together, as well as, perhaps, one of the hardest Beatles songs to perform: Helter Skelter which is always great to hear as its a rarely heard sung from Beatles tribute acts.

It really did feel felt like we were down in the cavern hearing The Beatles play as they did back in the 1960s!

Beside us were a couple of people in their element, singing, dancing and even shouting song requests out at the band which just added to the authenticity of the actual Cavern Club feel!

Overall it was an amazing gig despite it being quite an intimate one and we’re confident enough in saying if there were a curtain or a screen, you’d be thinking “are The Beatles really back there?” because Blac Rabbit sound so much like the original. The fans who went to this special gig were amazed by the performance – as they were ending they were chanting for more.

The 4 band members then signed the back wall of the “Cavern Stage” and the gig came to an end. An amazing experience for any Beatles fan!
