The Wailers to perform ‘Legend’ and other hits at the O2 Academy

The Wailers to embark on a UK headline tour in March, Getintothis’ Amaan Khan reports the details. 

Having already been treated to Brian Wilson‘s Pet Sounds, Elton John, not to mention a George Clinton with Parliament-Funkadelic gig on the schedule, it’s proving to be a good year to witness bona fide musical legends on the Liverpool stage.

Adding to the wealth of household names stopping by Liverpool, The Wailers have announced a UK headline tour that visits the city’s O2 Academy on March 11.

Formed in 1969 with Bob MarleyThe Wailers are recognised as pioneers of reggae and continue undertake concert tours with album themes as well as promoting their message of peace and equality.

The upcoming tour will see the group performing the album Legend in its entirety along with other selections from their storied career. With over 30 million copies sold worldwide, Legend remains the best-selling reggae album of all time, full of the band’s greatest hits from Is This Love? to No Woman No Cry and One Love/People Get Ready, the latter being named Song of the Millennium by the BBC in 1999. With over 250 million sales overall, The Wailers are the most successful reggae act in the world.

The Wailers – currently consisting of including original Wailers’ members Aston “Familyman” Barrett, Wailers’ guitarists Junior Marvin, Donald Kinsey, and renowned organist/pianist Earl “Wya” Lindo – remain arguably the world’s premier reggae and world music group, and an opportunity to immerse yourself in their positive vibes should not readily be passed over.
