Sports Team, Swim Deep, Cate Le Bon recipients of latest PRS Momentum Fund

PRS Foundation reveal the lucky latest recipients of the Momentum Fund, Getintothis’ Cath Holland finds out who’s getting that moolah. 

PRS Foundation, the UK’s leading charitable funder of new music and talent development, together with PPL, Creative Scotland, Arts Council of Wales, Welsh Government, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Invest NI and Spotify have announced reveal the next 12 artists who will receive support from the Momentum Music Fund.

The artists are Asylums, Ayelle, Barney Artist, Cate Le Bon, Denzel Himself, Emily Burns, Jerkcurb, Lioness, Scrufizzer, Sports Team, Swim Deep, Yazmin Lacey.

The money received will pay for a range of support, recording, release, touring, music videos and more.

Luke Branch from Asylums said, ‘We’re delighted to be receiving PRS Foundation’s Momentum Music funding.  This support will allow us to put our exciting third album plans into action, which we wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise.

Vanessa Reed, CEO at PRS Foundation said, ‘As the recent independent report on the impact of Momentum showed, this targeted support for music creators at a crucial tipping point makes a real difference in the development of their careers artistically and financially and subsequently contributes to the wider music industry.

I look forward to following their progress and seeing which other artists benefit in 2019 now that we have built new partnerships with Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Invest NI and Liverpool City Council.

Previous recipients of PRS Momentum funding include Merseyside’s Queen Zee, Trudy and the Romance, Bill Ryder-Jones, Hooton Tennis Club and Stealing Sheep

Last August’s round of funding saw Welsh Music Prize winners Boy Azooga and Meilyr Jones awarded support for the recording of much anticipated second albums.

Sports Team, included in this month’s announcement will get financial help for recording singles, touring, marketing and promotion, play Sound Basement in Liverpool on March 28.
