Supersonic festival 2019 looks set to a highlight of the metal calendar, Getintothis’ Nedim Hassan has headliner details.
Birmingham’s Supersonic festival have revealed that post-metal visionaries, Neurosis, will be their headline act for next year. It will be a rare UK appearance for the Californian outfit who are widely regarded as innovators of a distinctive style which melds sludge metal with a bold approach to sonic experimentation.
Neurosis are renowned for their immersive live shows which incorporate the extensive use of psychedelic visuals. With a set that will likely encompass songs from critically acclaimed records such as 1996’s Through Silver in Blood, as well as material from latest opus Fires Within Fires (2016), this announcement has set many metalheads’ pulses racing.
On top of this stunning announcement, Supersonic have confirmed that next year’s festival will run in conjunction with a major Home of Metal exhibition celebrating metal’s founding father’s Black Sabbath. The exhibition will feature a range of archival materials from Home of Metal‘s impressive collection, including photos, ephemera and memorabilia from band members’ own collections.
Supersonic Festival 2019 takes place on July 19-21. Tickets are on sale now.
