The Prodigy announce Liverpool Echo Arena date

The Prodigy

The Prodigy

The Prodigy bring the noise to Liverpool’s Echo Arena to promote their new album and Getintothis’ Banjo has the scoop.

The Prodigy were perhaps the first band to emerge from the 90s dance explosion who took on rock music and won.

Songs such as Breathe, Omen and Their Law brought the heaviness and attack of solid rock music to the dance arena, along with guitars, and turned The Prodigy into world wide stars.  Live they were a frightening proposition, the twin attack of Keith Flint and Maxim Reality meant they not only avoided the trap of becoming a faceless live dance act, they became one of the world’s most exciting live bands.

Fellow dance music pioneers such as the Chemical Brothers and Leftfield could only watch as The Prodigy overtook them and headed to the world’s biggest stages.

This instinctive collision of genres meant that The Prodigy were responsible for turning rockers onto rave and vice versa.  Their influence was to echo across the globe and help erase the yawning chasm that had opened up between the two musics.

Even to this day, The Prodigy‘s Smack my Bitch Up is used to soundtrack heavy and excessive scene in films and TV shows, as if their hooliganised sound has yet to be bettered.

Now, with 7th Album No Tourists set for release on 2 November, the band have announced a UK tour which includes a Liverpool date at the Echo Arena on 8 November.  With six number 1 albums already under their studded belts, this is a gig that is guaranteed to be full of heavy hits alongside their new material.
