As Liverpool’s new Irish Festival welcomes The Pgues frontman and Therapy? to it’s expansive lineup, Getintothis’ Amaan Khan looks forward to the celebration.

Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan is the latest addition to the incredible line-up for the first ever Liverpool Feis music festival this summer.

MacGowan, who formed seminal punk band The Pogues in 1982, enjoyed a star-studded 60th birthday party in January this year with performances from Nick Cave, Bono, Sinead O’Connor and Johnny Depp.

Joining the ranks are the alternative-metal veterans Therapy? that rubbed the shoulders in the 90s with Metallica and Red Hot Chilli Peppers on TV shows and festival lineups. The band achieved considerable prominence with their 1994 album Troublegum containing their hit singles Screamager and Nowhere.

The festival intends to celebrate the Irish heritage in Liverpool by bringing to Liverpool Pier Head a whole variety of Irish music with a lineup that includes Van Morrison as the headliner alongside the likes of Imelda MayChieftainsDamien DempseyDublin Legends (The Dubliners), Foy Vance etc.

Furthermore, festival organiser and revered promoter Vince Power adds:  “I am delighted to confirm that Therapy? are joining the line-up for this summer’s Feis Liverpool. Their addition to the bill really underlines the diversity of Irish musical talent out there today. They join an incredible list of eclectic musicians and hearing an acoustic set from them is going to be a really special event.”

His new venture The Feis Liverpool takes place on July 7 at Liverpool’s Pier Head.
