The Last Supper, Bearded Child

Bearded Child theatre group have teamed up with Kazimier Productions and Cartier 4 Everyone to host a new LGBTQ friendly night at Invisible Wind Factory, Getintothis’ Janaya Pickett reports.

Well congratulations, you made it to the end of another month. Pay-day weekend is upon us and for the briefest of moments we can live like kings or queens. Speaking of which, tomorrow night there will see a very special thing happening at Invisible Wind Factory: ‘Liverpool’s only drag dinner cabaretEAT ME! & Preach!

What’s on offer is a delicious three course dinner accompanied by the talents of immersive theatre troupe Bearded Child. Auntie Climaxx will be hosting, who is by her own admission is a bit of a vintage queen. Rather than flipping her wigs to banging pop hits she croons to the likes of the Ink Spots or the Shangri La’s. Her intended aesthetic is dark and in her own words “grotesque”. She’s a character that likes “playing with (read: lowering) peoples’ expectations of a drag show”.

Throughout dinner there will be cabaret performances from likes of Velma Von Bon Bon and The Hungry Bitches. Once you’ve digested all that it will be time to party. Preach! is IWF’s new late night queer disco. This installment’s theme,in association with Grrrl Power Liverpool, is The Fantasy Level, channelling “interdimensional club kid lazy eyed glamazon”. Yes, ma’am!

In true club kid spirit, attendees are encouraged to dress according to their own interpretation of the theme and there’ll be prizes for best in show. Blow off some steam and dance, get your face painted, visit the confessional booth, heck, throw some darts at the DUP dartboard! DJs AKASA, GLITTERFUCK and Amtrak Effigy will provide an eclectic soundtrack of classic and underground EDM, disco and punk. There’s no time to waste, get your tickets booked and start a Pinterest board for your outfit – immediately! Live like a queen tomorrow, you’ve earned it.

EAT ME & Preach! Is set to be a monthly event (with a break in August) that offers a safe space for members of the LGBTQ and other minority communities (as well as their allies!). Visit the events page for more information, tickets and keep your eyes peeled for future shenanigans, here.
