As Metal Liverpool undertakes a massive collaboration with several creative titans, Getintothis’ Amaan Khan gets all excited about it. 

Last September, Metal Liverpool brought a monumental gig to Edge Hill Station with Steve Reich‘s Different TrainsThis year, it attempts to follow last year’s glory with another mammoth of an offering.

Metal in partnership with Barbican CentreWarp Records, Boiler RoomWild City and What About Art? will be presenting a brand new audio-visual show entitled Different Trains 1947.

Different Trains 1947 is a work inspired from Steve Reich‘s Different Trains and was commissioned to commemorate the 70th anniversary of India’s independence.

The project will be created with the help of visual artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, who directed the Nick Cave documentary 20,000 Days on Earth, alongside musicians Jack Barnett, Indian music producer Sanaya Ardeshir aka Sandunes and Ninja Tune signed artist Darren J. Cunningham.

  • Different Trains 1947 will be played at Liverpool’s Edge Hill Station on September 28.

Later on, the production will also be performed on:

October 1: Barbican Hall, London
December 15 – December 17: Magnetic Fields Festival, Rajasthan, India
