Whitney and Bill Ryder-Jones announced as first acts for Now Wave’s Sunday Session

Whitney and Bill Ryder-Jones are announced as the first of eight acts for Now Wave’s Sunday Session, Getintothis’ Jessica Borden has all the details.

In the first of Now Wave‘s Sunday Session announcements, Whitney will head to Manchester’s O2 Ritz for the June 4 event, which will consist of eight bands on stages spanning two floors.

Following the success of their debut album Light Upon The Lake, which topped our own end of year list, their return to Manchester is sure to be warmly welcomed.

Hailing from Chicago, Whitney’s sound embraces an amalgam of influences. From quieter reflective numbers which could easily soundtrack a short movie, to the soul influences that infuse the melodies and the wistful folk-inflected melancholia, Whitney evoke a simpler time when life was free and easy.

Having just released a brand new collection of home recordings which you can listen to below Bill Ryder-Jones will be Joining Whitney at the Ritz in what sounds like a match made in heaven.

Now Wave will continue to announce two acts per month until the gig on June 4 and this first announcement seems a good indicator of the high calibre of artists the event will host.
