One of Liverpool’s best-loved up-and-comers will say goodbye to the city’s favourite venue this Christmas with a special live gig, Getintothis’ Patrick Clarke reports.
With the Kazimier‘s heartbreaking farewell growing ever closer, Hooton Tennis Club have today announced that they’ll be saying their goodbyes this December 8 with a final headline show at the venue.
No strangers to the site after cutting their teeth across Liverpool leading up to their recent signing with Heavenly Recordings, the foursome have already played to the room on multiple occasions this year, including a support slot with the incendiary Sleaford Mods, as part of the New Year Mythopoeia party in January as well as in their role as GIT Award nominees at this year’s ceremony.
The band were last on the much-adored stage at an all-day celebration of their label’s 25th birthday alongside fellow Liverpudlians Stealing Sheep and other labelmates including The Wytches and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
The video for new single Kathleen Sat on the Arm of Her Favourite Chair, which you can watch below alongside a stream of new single P.O.W.E.R.F.U.L P.I.E.R.R.E., also features footage from one of their many prior sets at the Kazimier.
The show will also follow the release of the band’s debut album Highest Point in Cliff Town next month on August 28, as well as nationwide gigs which has already included a set at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
Both a homecoming show from one of Liverpool’s biggest success stories of recent years and a fond farewell to a venue soon to pass into true musical legend, Hooton Tennis Club‘s last Kazimier hurrah is all-but-guaranteed to be unmissable.
Tickets for the show are priced at £7 and will go on sale at 9am this Friday July 31 from this link.
