A Hollywood heavyweight rolls into town as EVOL bring the legendary Steven Seagal to the O2 Academy. Getintothis’ Lauren Jones takes in a bad ass bluesy night .
Sunday night certainly gave us scousers a slice of the ‘American Dream’ on a larger than life scale as we welcomed the ultimate jack-of-all trades Steven Seagal to entertain the eager eyes of the adoring crowd that had crammed into the O2 Academy.
Courtesy of EVOL, Seagal brought his sultry, rough and ready tonality to the next level, with an almighty blues band in toe, we’re gobsmacked the venue was still standing.
With women – and men ready to throw themselves at him, Seagal was yearning to show his dedication to the fans, taking time out for pictures and to enjoy the fanbase he’s accumulated over the years. Yet, as quickly as he arrived, Seagal departed in order to prep for the excellence to follow.
As the night drew in, the proceedings began – Xander and The Peace Pirates and The Viper Kings drew in the crowd using their locality to pull the show together, setting us up with an almighty eagerness to flaunt what we are so very proud of.
Once the dust had settled we all awaited a glimpse of the Hollywood star. The wait was unbearable yet the sweltering heat and the interval did not dampen spirits, as once Seagal walked on that stage the buzz was immense. That moment was between true music fanatics and an artist so dedicated to the superiority of his own creation.
Jaws dropped as solos took over, that beautifully rugged artistry we’re so used to hearing from legends such as BB King and Buddy Guy – no words are needed when music so wholesome and poignant struts through the vicinity.
Captivated and truly gripped, each avid audience member held on to every note, grooving to the deep roots of guitar music, lapping it up Seagal lost himself to the tunes and the show ended as if a dream. Wow.
