Warpaint: Billie Holiday

Everyone’s favourite four-piece LA girl pop band with ‘war’ in their band name revisit their first born.

Seems like ages since Getintothis was harping on about those slumbersome, bleak-as-black riffs from Warpaint‘s Exquisite Corpse EP.
However, it was but last January, that they snake-hipped their way into soft focus. Still, they – like us – feel it’s appropriate to remind ourselves of what a marvellous debut dish they served up by re-releasing Billie Holiday as part of the reissue of their debut The Fool (released September 12), through Rough Trade.
The new version is mixed by Pulp bassist Steve Mackey and is a complete re-working of the original version, produced by ex-Chilli Peppers‘ fret-dancer John Frusciante.

The Fool reviewed on Getintothis.
